THERAPY
The Children's Advocacy Center of Jackson County realizes that children and families access the Center for various reasons. Families are offered either counseling or play therapy assessments, depending on the age of the child as part of our service. It is our goal to help families process their feelings surrounding the abuse. Counseling is held in a safe, caring environment that is constructed to reduce anxiety. We care about you as a person. If you are undecided about counseling, our door is always open to explain options that are available to you.
When you first arrive, you will have a thorough assessment to determine if therapy is needed and what kind is best for you. We even have a therapy dog, Jack to help you feel safe. We have two wonderful therapists to help: Toni Richmond, MS, LMFT and Sara Breckenridge, MSW, LCSW. They are both experts is a variety of treatment methods to help children heal. And, of course, we have Jack!
Other Services We Offer:
Teen Girls Group
The teen Girls Group provides a place for girls of similar age and experience to express
feelings and share problems. Together, as a group, they learn how to identify new options
for handling their feelings and concerns, while encouraging healthy, positive solutions.
Through games, art, peer interaction and personal sharing, they discover that it is a safe
place where they are truly not alone.

This mentoring opportunity is a year-long experience to provide support for our children who have visited the center. We have three groups: a group for preteen girls, a group for teen girls, and a boys group. The groups give the kids a chance to build self-esteem, confidence and self-worth through a myriad of experiences from art workshops to cooking, candle making, scrap booking, hiking, skiing, etc. Trained CAC staff and volunteer mentors assist them in breaking down the barriers that face all young people today, along with helping them achieve their short and long-term goals. We are the only advocacy center in the state of Oregon that offers mentoring programs.
